Pub Banter & Confessions

“STORIES CAN BE MADE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, BUT ARE ALWAYS BEST TOLD IN THE PUB.” - SAID BY SOMEONE, SOMEWHERE (PROBABLY)

Storytelling and humour are synonymous with Scottish culture and tradition. From world-renowned raconteurs like Rabbie Burns and Sir Walter Scott, to the comedic genius of Billy Connolly - Scotland has long been a land where stories are told with flair and humour.

Yet, it’s not only famous figures that make storytelling a vital part of Scottish culture - for generations, people have been coming together in their local pubs to tell proper stories. From regular get-togethers, to long overdue reunions – across the country friends, families and strangers alike share their lives through anecdotes, banter and a good dose of Scottish wit. It’s in the pub that people bond, laugh and unwind, swapping humorous tales of triumphs and mishaps, or just telling a damn funny joke.

That’s why we’re excited to be publishing our very own Innis & Gunn Book of Pub Banter and Confessions - full of these stories. Memorable moments from your very own living room, university nights out or even office away days gone wrong – wherever your tale takes place, if you'd share it in the pub over a pint we want to hear it... so don’t hold back!

Think you’ve got a humorous story, cringe confession or witty anecdote that we need to include? Tell it to us below in as much detail as you can, and you could be published in the very first edition of our book, due to be published in November 2025!
